I have spoken before about how much I embrace creating layers and textures within my art. The wooden pieces above are newly textured, awaiting further developments. I am planning additions to my long neglected etsy shop with these pieces and have only to do photos and set up for a number of smaller items. I'll let you know when that ever happens.

In the meantime I found this video of Bruno Sasfilippo Piano Textures III which I would like to share, ever more "textures".

And if you also adore textures, please think about this exciting opportunity to join Dale Anne Potter and me as we look at mixed-media techniques. If you want to learn, or are already experienced and want to practice textures, AND numerous other techniques, this is a fabulous time to be doing either.

walking on a tightrope

Being saved by light and art

I found the following words in my archived writings. I believe I used to have them as the profile for my blog. Just thought they would be kind of neat to share.

"Creativity allows my voice to float up in echoing reverberations from that place in my soul where emotions thrive. It gives wings to my words, flight to my thoughts.
Creativity allows my hands to share a piece of my heart with those who take time to see. Nature brings inspiration ~ colours and sounds, taste and touch.
I thank God for this gift ~ this wonderful gift of creativity, the wind in my wings"

But about that tight rope - the page I started this morning tells a little about it.

Art has once again been my saving grace. After noticing a post of my friend Dale Anne I decided to do this little book of my own. I used some cards that probably came from a birthday card reminder holder. Each had a month on it. Numerous scraps and interesting pieces of paper and magazine clippings to name a few, made up the book. I was so happy to actually complete the project as I have not been doing that very often lately.

Angels be with you dear friends. Hoping you may "discover abundant colours of life".

sometimes

I think that spring is my most favourite season of the year. I adore the birth, rebirth, the budding, blossoming of LIFE. However, there is something about the pull of the moon, the swing of the tides, that makes spring a difficult season. I sense this for myself, for many. Transition can be complex. It can affect our bodies and our minds. And certainly spring is overflowing with transition.

I was able to capture a couple of photos last Tuesday evening when I finally remembered to have camera in hand as I left the house. I always used to carry my camera with me but somehow got away from the habit.

Hoping you may find some "most brilliant of golden light ~ shining through" at those times when "life seems the most dark".

In case you didn't know ~

I absolutely love doing texturing and layering and backgrounds. I suppose that is somewhat, maybe quite, typical for mixed media artists. The following image is just a smidgen of a taste of my book of gigantic proportions. I am nearing completion of that lovely creation and am planning a video to present with the entire book. If you have any possibility of seeing the book in person I encourage you to do so. Some lucky folks got to see the work in progress when I did a presentation to a smallish group of people at our local library last week.

If you would like to learn more about altering books and making books and making wonderful textured backgrounds you may want to join Dale Anne Potter and myself on a nature and art filled CRAFT cruise to Alaska, taking place next June, 2010. I personally love the ocean and all it's critters. Bald eagles will also be, apparently, in migration. Looks to me like a guaranteed fun time. More details to follow in the next few weeks.

A couple of pictures displaying book covers I have done. I would plan to use similar techniques for the cover of a board book we'll be doing while cruising the deeps.

Angels and art filled days be with you.
