something different

from me.

I had encountered some mixed media artists in the past year or two that have been doing different sorts of things with jewelry. I was intrigued. Also I have observed that people sometimes are more interested in purchasing something they can wear more than something to hang on the wall to decorate a space or to be admired as art.

Some of the newest mixed media for me involves working with sculpey clay. The above larger beads are my own. These groupings will be worked together to form a beautiful necklace. I will show you another day.

The above necklace is unique, being made with an empty, sterilized insulin vial. I have had diabetes for 50 years now. I am proud of the fact. I am happy to have determined a use for some of the daily medication "waste" and happy to be able to recycle. "Hope" has been a very important word to me all along. I hope that you have found a place for it within your heart as well.

More jewelry parts made with sculpey clay.

Now I am away to more adventures with creating.

so many projects

Dear sweet friends and followers, and everyone that just happened to stop by ~
I am lamenting the seeming departure, at least for this day, of the summer. Summers in Saskatchewan are frequently short. For me, however this one was quite different in that I had SO many projects on the go. Many of these projects were not crafty or art projects, but projects in which I certainly had to gather in all my powerful personal resources. Much of what I was doing required creative energy in communication skills to assist my self and mainly my family, immediate and extended, in working on the path of developmental milestones.
"What of the art creations?", you are asking. They have certainly not fallen by the wayside. Instaed they have assisted hugely in ALL of the other projects.

I have been very much influenced in the past six months or more by the jewelry, and other art of course, of people like Rebecca Sower, Kelly Rae Roberts, and "Danita's Art". More recently I was fortunate to find the book "Ancient Modern: Polymer Clay and Wire Jewelry" by Ronna Sarvas Weltman at a very reduced price. I had not seen Ronna's art previously, at least not that I recalled. In the past few days I have become very excited and inspired by her creations.

Now you know some of the directions my planning and creating have taken. I have the supplies I need to do  jewelry creations with my own art such as Danita and Kelly. That will take a bit more time. Below are pictured a few of my pieces nearly completed. The first are inspired by Rebecca Sower. The last is my own design.

Until next time ~ angels be with you.

Forty + one - inchies. I completed them last night. Greg actually helped with the info on the back. I signed. He put "windyangels" on for me.
He actually did the mailing today too as I had to take "Cat" to Saskatoon for an appointment. We also viewed "night at the Museum" and for shopping I got a huge circle punch and we picked up a few beads and charms at the beadhive.
Kind of proud of those inchies I'm feeling.

I almost forgot to mention that I've changed the layout of my flickr site. Let me know what you think.

Happy Valentine's Day

Tuesday, February 13, 2007

Valentines: These are a few of my postcards. I've also shown the front of a card I made for a wedding shower. Katie's fiancee has taken her to a nearby place where chickadees will land on your hand to feed. They both love nature and animals. They love each other and plan to exchange vows on February 24. We wish them the very best.

And I learned late lat night that my January journal quilt "One lone tree and moon in winter" was chosen to be on the homepage for the CPS journal Quilt Challenge for this week. What a very pleasant surprise.

Believe in love. Believe in magic. Believe in Santa Claus. Believe in others. Believe in yourself. Believe in your dreams. If you don't, who will? Inspiration Peak

My first squares 1" x 1". I am amazed by the options of supplies I actually have here for making valentine's "candy". This is just the beginning.

Time Management: I'm trying to make better use of my time. I've decided to try to do some simple tasks while Greg drives us to our destinations and back. This morning on our way to Church, half hour away, I was cutting apart images from a little book I'd gotten at Michael's. Unfortunately my scissors were not very sharp. The other day, I think Friday, I was trying to sew some beads onto this piece of felt. On our way back it was starting to get dark. Greg kept asking about the light. I didn't need it yet.

I'd seen the idea, done with real felt. I didn't have such a thing so got cheap felt. The buttons are from my Mom's old collection. I'm not sure how old they'd be. The scan does not do them justice. They are cracked and darkened around the edges. I might sew some more beads on if I can find the right ones. then it gets blanket stitched with another and stuffed. I guess it's supposed to be a Christmas decoration. Oh well. It can just be for anytime too. I need the practice mostly.

I got a little bit of sewing done on my journal quilt but will wait until more done before I show that. I'm not sure how much I'll be able to accomplish as our daughter is having continuing problems - no seizures, but social, behavioural. This time of year and next few months tend to be her difficult time. Hopefully we can make it through. We'll get as much help as able from school. She admitted to major self-esteem problems, in her own way, on Friday. I'm trying not to agonize. I'll communicate as best I can with the people I need to. Otherwise I try very much to just place it in God's hands.

Forgot to mention, Fran has a wonderful gift for someone chosen from comments left on her blog all this coming week. Good luck.
