autumn ramblings 4

a time when ~
the full moon went flowing by with the stream pulling behind chill, chilly temperatures
grey skies to try ~ pull us down
plus winds to nearly knock the breath from even the strongest creatures among us.
not to mention many of the leaves from the trees.

a time when ~
the robins visit, nearly en masse
moving from one tree to another in our yard,
and many others, as i walk in daylight hours.
sadly the light tricking ~ frequent thuds heard as the robins bump,
one after another, into the windows.
my heart does a little skip for them. typically they are strong.
not so the numerous wings and stilled bodies i glimpse on the pavement, probably fallen victim to neighbours cat.
i sigh, remembering with some sadness
the way of nature.
wondering how on african safaris "the chase" seems to draw the attention of many travellers.
not me.
i preferred the humungous yawns
as they napped.
we could be still,
standing in our safari vehicle at a safe distance.
grateful the others with us, also intrigued by those same yawns.

a white feather captures my attention
so very apparent midst the darkness fallen leaves at curb's edge.

a veil of tiny richness coloured leaves
trails
from the flatbed trailer at lunch time departure
from their spot parked beneath the trees of the park beside.

"Besides the autumn poets sing,
A few prosaic days
A little this side of the snow
And that side of the haze."

autumn ramblings 3

yesterday was about a drive to the city. it was about more than that, but i have only this much time to ramble today. what an absolutely gorgeous day for a drive. many years our frost comes early and the big winds follow, leaving much missed regarding autumn leaves. not the case this year. the sunlight, the warmth, the more recent gentle winds, have allowed for a wonderful display of autumn richness. i sometimes long for that desire to snap, snap, snap photos and still more photos. sadly the energy is not there. the muse wants to take me just that close to inspiration and then leave me straggling.

yet the most important thing is ~ i am not rushing by.

the most important thing is ~ i am not agonizing
about the camera
being far from the ready.

the most important thing is ~ i am ready to rejoice
at the beautiful sun kissed leaves,
the rich tapestry of trees, with sparkling waters
holding just the right amount of glimmer.

the most important thing is ~ i am able to feel
the excitement of another's joy
as she observes first time
the white shining hue of snow geese
as they gather and lift,
just above the road on which we travel.

the most important thing is ~
my eyes and head allow me
to glimpse the majesty of the eagle
as he sits on an otherwise bare tree
at waters edge.

Earth Day

To me, every day is like earth day. I love nature very much. Our family has been into recycling for a very long time. I know that I fall short in many ways but at least I try. As earth day approaches I have chosen to share with you a few glimpses into what earth is about for me in this particular time.

Birds are important to me. Springtime of the year is special because of robins. These particular robins were gathering happily in the tree outside, just beyond the window.

While green grass and new leaves are slow in arriving, there are some perrenial plants poking their leaves through the earth announcing their arrival. I am always so happy to see those first leaves peeking out.

Certainly the earth is about people and love. I am always inspired when I encounter one of these very special videos.

Considering my love of colour and creativity I find this next video to be exceptionally representative of nature and art. Please view full screen if you are able.

While the article below is not news, I believe the timing is appropriate to share because of earth day and my love of nature. The display remains in the gallery until the end of April.

As a finale for my little celebration of earth day I could not help but choose to ask you to "Imagine".

a different autumn dance

this years dance of autumn
was so different

there have been so many
major transitions in my life
the past number of months

I thought this autumn
would be more calm
more art filled
more peaceful
more creative

but not.
instead filled with more arrangements
more meetings
more phone calls
ensuring peace
and safety
for those I love
waiting to play

still nature danced
all about me
in the familiar stride
which nature takes
leaves of gold

my own dance
felt fretful
sometimes near frantic
sighting as impossible
this slower
stronger

dance of self
crunchy leaves

yet here I am
taking longer
courage filled strides
filled with the knowledge
accomplishment
pride
peace

if only for a moment
still certain
almost always
in self
in courage
in knowing the joy
of the dance
leaves of burgundy

regardless

sometimes my dance with autumn

is as

a grand entrance

my dance with autumn stanza 2

a quick step

filled with joy
~ leaves  cascading ~

colours cascading

falling around me

flowing in grandeur

excitedly

a polka

all about

*leaves  cascading* I pause

exhausted
~ my dance with autumn stanza 2 ~

wait
alone
fading
watching
until the next

serendipitous sunset

serendipitous sunset
sliding serenely
into the sea

sending shivers
through my spine

Ah, how sensuous ~

Actually I live in the wide expanse of prairie in central Saskatchewan. Sometimes the autumn golden fields look more like a wide expanse of sea.

And truly our province is diverse.

Wishing you much saffron serendipity as you traverse the autumn pathway.

Angels of kindness:
A number of weeks ago some dear friends named me as one of the recipients of this "nice matters" award. I felt so honoured. Now finally I am returning the favour by naming some of my other friends with the same award. I would like to name Elena, Karen, Debra, Darcy, Helene and Fran to receive the award.

I also received recently the Rockin' girl blogger award from Darcy and so I will name Suze, Nance, Jude, Mary Ann, and Janet to receive this award. I know many of you have already received this award but I would like to present it to you also. You are all so great.

Angel images have arrived together with all the other angels. Helenina and Karen have both sent beautiful images on Flickr. Enigmaticdec, a friend from close by, and maybe moving closer, sent me a wonderful image and purposely had allowed room for me to add words. Thanks so much to each of you.

enigmatic angel

For anyone following the bits and pieces of what's been happening in my life the past ten days or so, I'll say that we had a fine visit at the farm this past weekend. I had a long visit with Jeanne and I am confident that she is ready to face whatever the future brings. She appeared so much like her bouncy, cheerful self even though she'd just had a major surgery a few days previous.

I've been fitting in dibbles and dots of art too. Many of the projects are not quite finished but here's some of what I've been doing.

I'll give you details once I've gotten pieces closer to completion.

Angels be with you.
