I took that one tiny circle and "pasted" it probably about a hundred times using photoshop. two copies were printed and then I cut around and glued. let me know if you are interested and I can send it to you or post it on flickr

I had been thinking of using some glaze yet BUT decided not this time (time as usual being the operative word)



I added my own words, the word "fly" two times and outlined the two times it already appeared. I added an extra crown, outlined the one I had used for my cousin ;) gave that other ancestor some wings to fly and did some more outlining.

What better place to do a “tribute to nature” than the outdoors? We had wonderful summery weather this past week even though it is the beginning of October. I had to spend some time enjoying it because in Saskatchewan you never know when the weather will turn wintery.
And so for this week 8 of collage play with Crowabout I chose to use four of the images which spoke to me of nature. I was having a great time and decided to share some of the fun with another video. Video creating is something I really enjoy. I have shown some of my techniques for layering in backgrounds. I again did mostly transfers with the images I chose to use, as well as some quotations about nature. Some of the quotations are backwards - gives an interesting feel.

Very late with week 7 of collage with crowabout BUT as Nance was busy with moving this past Saturday I was still able to do it before the new collage page was presented :-)
It doesn't really matter as I'm not much into following rules and directions these days. It does present an extra component of challenge if you are trying to meet a deadline for a submission :-)

I am at somewhat of a standstill with unpacking boxes from the fire we had in our house over four months ago. The carpenters still have a tiny fix up to do. I think we have something like 14 boxes left in the living room to unpack. There are at least that many in the basement yet and perhaps that many in boxes from the bedrooms combined. Sounds like lots BUT when you consider there were probably over 400 all together, well, you get the picture. The bills from the cleaners came in a while ago. They total $33,000 plus. We started adding up our own bills last night. Thank goodness for insurance!
When asked how I am these days, all I can say is "tired". And so I present the point is ... it's OK to PLAY This piece was done entirely on the computer. The background was found yesterday at Dover Publications which I came across at Inspire me Thursday. I haven't visited there for ages - really glad I took a moment to stop by. I put many words on the background, together with a border. Then I proceeded to add the collage elements. I toned it down more with a light paint spray and put one of my own images on. The extra words and buttons were also added digitally. I'm not very good with the freehand lettering on the computer but it turned out alright. The point is ... it's OK to PLAY (I remembered).

I have the video about gel transfers 99.9% finished. If you've not yet seen it, I did a post about tape and contact paper transfers. I've also been working on my etsy shop to get it rejuvenated. Of course there are always interesting links I have to check when I am in the process :-) Here's something neat to check if you have your own shop. Be certain to check the Monday posts. That's where the giveaways are announced lol

Just a touch of what's happening today. I have to do some tearing and gluing for journal backgrounds. Hopefully some time to paint a spot also.

For week 2 of crowabout's collage challenge I have altered quite radically some of the images. I used photoshop to do a smoke effect on lots of the images and then I took a chunk of the page of images and used a stained glass effect also. I glued most of the images to this scrapbook journal page and used just a bit of ink to balance the colour in the areas which had nothing else.

On the above photo I used watered down acrylic paint (inexpensive type) to balance the colours.


With many of the elements I made more than 1 copy. I especially liked the flower so chose to use different sizes and applied them after the balancing paint.


On this picture you can see that I chose to practice my transfers with the image of the eyes. I am still really learning. Many of these did not show up very well. I believe the image was too dark with the background also quite dark. I think they actually show up better on the photo than for real. lol


I really liked this partial face of the young lady. I had determined that I wanted to add on. I wanted to use text for the rest of the body and decided to use repetitive words from my verse for the collage. I was excited to remember the "lsleaves" font I had uploaded some time in the past and use it fo the paper for the rest of the extension.


The final photo shows that I also used transfers for the words I had composed for the page.

As I have a couple of major projects planned and started at the moment, besides trying to reorganize after the fire and an "on the go" summer, I probably won't be doing the crowabout challenge for a couple of weeks. I have to see how everything goes and how my energy levels balance. My etsy shop, I think it's still there lol is hugely in need of some attention also.

COLLAGE PLAY:
I have started in a new challenge group, collage play with crowabout, which my friend Nance is running. You are presented with collage images and can use in whatever way you want in a piece of art. I chose to use the images and many of their transfers, together with words, to speak of how I'm feeling these days. It was great to take time to do art though I was being crabby with my family about space to do it in LOL.

First step in one of my journal pages - actually an old scrapbook which has a bit of a moisture stain - fine for collage. Watered down paint was applied over papers.


Some written words were added.


The images and transfers were applied. I'm still learning and practicing with the transfers. I'll do a bit of a tutorial with my experience if I ever get to it.
