autumn ramblings 10 ~ more stages of creativity

a blue vignette just cause this is a rambling and the image is looking ugly very scary at this point.

As you have probably noticed ~ something went totally awry after the fourth picture. By that time I was getting pretty frustrated. I was nearly ready to paint over and start from new. But thankfully I let her rest for a while. I moved on to a couple of other creations. Not certain why I was panicking stressing. I suppose those nasty life challenges were getting the best of me. Finally I came back to my drawing book inside cover page. Answers came to me.

I am now calling this page complete. There is probably much more I could do but after all ~ only  a journal page.

autumn ramblings 9

or "taking a creative interlude"

As you could realize from my latest ramblings ~ sometimes the rambling is a bit hard to take. As I began the ramblings, I believe I had mentioned that what was flowing through onto these pages was very much the way things are within me. Confusing. Making no sense. Never ending. I suspect you have been getting numerous indications of that particularly recently. You might pause to wonder how anyone could survive a continuous, ongoing thought process as that. That is at times what boggles my mind - how to get away from it. How to unwind the tightly wound knob on my back so that the thought process might slow down.

I am so grateful for a creative soul. So grateful for an awareness of nature and the need to "be still". So grateful for music. So grateful for tools and imagination and eyes that "see beyond".

Truly I have tried to remain creative. Here is one of my more recent creations shown in steps from earlier beginnings of a sketch to looking very gaunt, to looking like a sophisticated young lady very worthy of framing. I often begin sketches on whatever happens to be handy as I prepare to talk with my Momma on the telephone. Those beginning sketches are sometimes "way off" but I have been reminded time and time again to practice. That is another part of what keeps me going in this creative journey.

Created with graphite, soft pastels, pastel pencils.

I know. She looks pretty scary above. She would have been very appropriate for Halloween or some very scary movie. Funny. I trusted myself and carried on. I have learned that a very bad, nearly frightening look is typical at some stage in most paintings. Trust in oneself. And I realize now that creating brings about trust. Ah, I think I learned that a long time ago. It was just a lesson forgotten, a lesson which I should allow to be at the forefront much more often, in creating, as in life.

November 2011

I was reminded this evening about November being a special month in which art, blogging, and art journaling are all encouraged as a daily activity. I have participated in Art Eevryday Month a number of times but have not been involved with the other two projects previously. While art is almost an everyday piece throughout the year, I have decided to try to share more of my projects with you this month. I might even try to show you some of the activities from the past few months just because I have not yet shared them.

Today's art involved further prepararion for a small trade show I will be participating in on November third in our local senior citizen's home. Some of the newer things I am working on is more tags. A few are for Christmas and others are just something lovely. The butterfly tags need to be cut out yet. Hopefully there will be some time tomorrow.

November in my life

"Even if something is left undone, everyone must take time to sit still and watch the leaves turn."
Elizabeth Lawrence

As this month of November goes crunching past, blending through,

nature's art

I take pause to give thanks for the opportunities I have to be outdoors, midst the sunshine, walking with my dog.

I contemplate the many tasks to be done. I treasure any moment that I have for peaceful moments .

Our November this year is unusual. Typically I refer to November as "the candle month".

This year we seemed to have our more grey, more coool sullies

"Looking through the window..."

in October. November has brought us glorious weather to allow for completion of the harvest.

While the days are growing shorter,

the sun wants to shine gloriously. The birds want to be atwitter.

is approaching and I look forward to the preparations with great joy.

And in this typically grey, rushed month of November, I have chosen once again to participate in Art Everyday Month. I have mainly been taking scads of photographs for using with Visual Poetry. I have decided to do a slideshow which depicts most of the creations from my first two weeks of Art Everyday Month.

Wishing you a very happy November.

Sun setting at Creekside - November 11

Wednesday, November 29, 2006

"Wanted" is the word I pointed at when I chose one of the books closest to me, opened the book and pointed at a word, as instructed for random word spark, be inspired to play, for Inspire me Thursday. At first I looked longingly at the words close by - seasons, color. Then I stopped to think about this word. How close could one be to the word wish? There are many things for which I wish. There must certainly be something artful I could create surrrounding the word "wanted". I had thoughts, ideas. My mind took me to a place in time to which I return, expecially when I allow myself the time. You see "I wanted", and I still want...

This is also the second last day for AEM. I may not get to posting any art tomorrow because I must prepare and travel for meetings in Regina on Friday. Starting tomorrow afternoon I will be away from computer for more than 48 hours. Hmmm. Might be tough. I'll try to post on Saturday if I am able to actually do any art tomorrow, November 30.

I was having difficulty with this art journal page. I ended up doing things over a few times. Consequently the words were done mainly with a cheap bic pen. I would probably go over them with a gel pen if I did not need any sleep this night.

The rider and horse are not that which I saw a few years ago. That rider was long and lithe, perhaps more so because her limbs seemed to flow, together with the horse. She rode bareback.

Some day...

AEM, November 27 - a journal page: I've not been able to do much art the last couple of days. That is frustrating for me. Creativity helps me to cope. Other necessities have been pushing their way to the front of my being.

I've been attempting transfers for some time. On Thursday I finally got some Golden soft gel medium. I decided it would be quick to try to do transfers tonight. It will still take some practice but at least I finally had some success. This was the third attempt tonight. I hadn't taken time to look for directions anywhere. I don't like the streaky lines but I don't care. With practice and some studying I think I might be able to have more success.

Someone questioned my actions, and beliefs, today. I am trying not to let it concern me but when there is such fear in me anyway, it is difficult. I will continue to trust. I will continue to pray. I will continue to ask for your prayers.

Wishing you magic in whatever form that takes - perhaps a stronger faith in God.

AEM - November 16, 2006: Little time today or tomorrow. Main art I did today was buying lovely fabrics that were on sale for 1 day only, moonlight madness day in our small City - tradition. I'll show you some of them another day. I'm excited by them - lovely flannels and cottons, rich textures and patterns. Yumm.

This picture was just tossed together digitally. The photo was taken on weekend at farm. We have more snow than there.

See Binds of time at windyangelsandyou.

Have a great day and may you be blessed with much playtime and creative inspiration.

AEM - November 15, 2006: Day 2 on this blue piece. I'm not getting much art done these days and not quite certain how I'll proceed with this piece.

Baby Jesus - You may recognize one of the fabric pieces I'd shown the other day. The background was done with caran d'ache Neocolor ll (water soluble) and water brushed on. I drew in the picture with caran d'ache today. I'll need to soften the cradle yet a bit, no, not more straw, more shading. Again uncertain of how to finish - I might turn these both into little quilts. They are about 5 inches X 7 inches. Oh yes, do you think it would wreck it to use silver fiber on the rays of starlight?
